An exclusive wine tasting event

This Event has closed.

xMatters and BigPanda are hosting a virtual wine tasting, and we’ve asked our friend, Tanner Scheer, to join us. Tanner is the winemaker at Red Car winery and we are excited to taste their newly released 2020 Rosé and a 2016 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir.

The event takes place on Thursday, June 10th at 4:00pm PST | 7:00pm EST.

How it works

Red Car Wine has curated two wines for BigPanda and xMatters:

  1. newly released 2020 Rosé
  2. 2016 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Once you register, wines will be shipped to your home to arrive the first week of June. On June 10th, get those bottles out along with a few wine glasses. You are welcome to bring a guest, as long as they are 21+ years old.

Tanner, our Zoom-melier, will kick off the event telling us about Red Car’s mission and share a little bit about each wine as he guides us through the tasting. You might need to brush up on your wine lingo so you know the difference between a chunky monkey and a fruit bomb.

And as always, you won’t leave this event wishing you had done something else for that hour. It will be a great chance to network and enjoy an environment free of sales pitches or presentations.

About Red Car winery

Red Car is a boutique winery focused on producing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah from a network of cold-climate vineyards located in West Sonoma. Red Car uses modern viticulture and transparent winemaking to craft wines of character and originality that faithfully express the cool climate personality of the Sonoma Coast.

About the winemaker, Tanner Scheer

Winemaking was an unexpected career choice for Tanner. In 2008, Tanner wanted to be closer to his brother and sister-in-law, who introduced him to Ampelos Cellars owners Peter and Rebecca Work. After a quick telephone interview, Tanner had a job lined up as a cellar rat. At 18 years old, he quit his job in Colorado, packed two bags and a backpack, and came out to California to work his first harvest.

Tanner had never tasted a single wine at that point. “The first wine I had was 2001 Melville Pinot,” he says. “I remember thinking that this is the craziest thing ever, that all this action can be packed in one glass.” He fell in love with the work and the wine.

In 2015, Tanner joined the family at Red Car and has adopted a philosophy that makes Red Car wines so special: “Don’t manipulate the fruit in the winery. It’s up to the vineyards, the climate, the soil and the farming practices we choose to employ. What’s important for me at a fundamental level is to represent each varietal in its truest form.”

*Limited to the first 25 guests Since we need 7-10 days to ship the wines out, please register now and block your calendar. Once confirmed, we will send you an invitation with more details. If you don’t drink or can’t accept the tasting kit, please still plan on joining - just let us know when you receive your confirmation email and we will make a note of that.
